Your journey
If you had unlimited time, talent, and money, what would you do with your life?
Dreams are the big, bold visions you have for your life. Think about what you want to have, do, experience, become, and give back. You'll turn these into concrete goals in the next step.
5 Dream Categories
Keep going until you have at least 25 dreams.
What specific results will you commit to accomplishing in the next 12 months?
Turn your dreams into commitments. Goals are specific, measurable, and achievable. Write each one as a single sentence that begins with an action verb. Set a target date for each one, and separate them into business and personal.
Stop reacting to what's urgent. Start choosing what's important.
The principles that guide your decisions when time is limited.
Your values are what you care about most in life: the people, experiences, and priorities that matter above everything else. Pick up to 10 from the list below. In the next step, you'll check each goal against your selected values to make sure you're chasing goals that actually matter to you.
Cross-check every goal against your values list.
Achieving goals that align with your values will produce the deepest satisfaction. Goals that don't align with any of your values will leave you feeling empty, even when you achieve them. Click on each one of your goals and select the value it aligns with. If a goal doesn't align with your values, drop it or go back and revise your values.
When goals and values align, your time, focus, and energy flow toward the things that actually move your life forward.
List the successive steps you’ll take to get to each goal.
For each goal, write out the activities you must complete to reach it. Break the goal into manageable steps so it feels clear and doable. Each week, you'll pull activities from your plans onto your activities list and work on completing them.
By the yard, it's hard.
By the inch, it's a cinch.
Recurring habits that keep you moving toward your goals.
Routines are the activities you commit to repeating on specific days each week. They're the habits that compound over time: exercise, reading, prospecting calls, weekly reviews. Link each routine to a goal so you can see which habits are driving which results.
Pick the days each routine repeats (every weekday, MWF, weekends, etc.) and optionally set a time so it syncs to your calendar. Each day, your scheduled routines appear on the Today page alongside your Daily 3.
Consistency compounds. Small daily habits drive bigger results than occasional bursts of effort.
The actions and obligations you need to manage.
Your activities list will include activities from your plans that move you toward your goals and other activities that have nothing to do with your goals, but still need to get done. You listed your goal-linked activities in the previous section. Now add everything else: obligations, calls, appointments, errands, and anything you need to get done.
You'll also be prompted to separate your activities into business and personal, as well as Must-do (skipping it creates problems) or Should-do (goal-advancing, the work that actually moves your life forward).
e.g., "Renew car registration before it expires", "submit an expense report by Friday", "pick up groceries for dinner".
Must-do — urgent. Skipping it creates problems.
Should-do — goal-advancing. The work that actually moves your life forward.
Each day, pick 3 activities and commit to completing them.
Choose activities that help you reach your goals and move your life forward. You'll also have tasks that you need to complete that day, even if they don't bring you closer to your goals. This is part of life. Pick the three most important tasks, add them to your Daily 3, and commit to completing them.
